A long, dragged out book about your “V”. Most of the basic info contained in this book I already knew and would hope other women would as well. As far as anything out of the run of the mill going on with your “V” go to the doctor if you reckon something is incorrect! Waste of money.

As a woman who developed vulvodynia twenty years ago, I find Dr. Stewart’s chapter on the theme woefully behind the times in her treatments and understanding of the disorder. My private experience has proven that a low-oxalate diet and correlated therapies, as pioneered by Dr. Clive C. Solomons, can control the symptoms and pain in a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical manner. This in rank is available for Dr Stewart to study, but, she relies on the outdated, harmful, ineffective therapies of the medical “excellent ol’ boys”. What a huge stout disappointment!

Even as Dr Stewart has brought an vital theme into the broadcast eye and has written a comprehensive book, she perpetuates many inaccuracies as regards the Low Oxalate diet
and Calcium Citrate treatment for vulvodynia.
These innacuracies presented as the latest research will deter many readers who suffer from this disease from benefitting from a safe therapy that will help them.

This otherwise brilliant book, that demystifies the “forbidden” zone and offers much helpful in rank is gone in that it omits serious and detailed discussion of any holistic/alternative approaches to this area of the body–how to keep it healthy, what to do if there is illness or distress, such as a sexually transmitted virus (like HPV) or an abnormal Pap smear. For this, I urge the brilliant book WOMEN AT RISK by Henderson, Warshowsky and Yasgur. It offers conventional and alternative approaches to vulvovaginal health in general and HPV-correlated issues in particular. As a health educator I can say this is the best book I’ve found, and the only one that has any reliable in rank about alternatives.

I bought this book because I had seen it before and read some of the chapters. I found it informative, fascinating and well written in laymans terms. It is also entertaining.
