Product Description
“The Autoimmune Epidemic by Donna Jackson Nakazawa is an astonishing book….It is the kind of book that will rivet you and scare you. It will make you mad. It will amaze you with the courage of some of the people described in the book…The Autoimmune Epidemic is every bit as compelling as Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle…It is also every bit as necessary as An Inconvenient Truth….
You will place this book with no reservations about the veracity of the conclusions: place simply, there is no doubt that autoimmune diseases are on the rise and increasing environmental exposures of toxins and chemicals is fueling this rise. The research is sound. The conclusions unassailable….
Reading The Autoimmune Epidemic is a necessary first step. Reading The Autoimmune Epidemic is a life-altering event. It needs to be.”

As a person who has autoimmune disease, I can honestly say that after decades of private research into all sorts of reasons “why,” I reckon that this book comes the closest to providing that resolution. Most other theories are just that. But this author provides substantial, accepted-as-research studies to back up her claims. It unfortunately all makes excellent sense to me.
If her theories turn out to be right, you have to wonder how it is that the USA has allowed itself to be the world’s guinea pig. It seems that any company can place out any chemical to test on the broadcast, or pollute as much as it can get away with, at will. It’s shameful. If this is all right, the tobacco industry debacle will, in hindsight, seem miniscule.
So, yes. If you or someone you know has autoimmune disease, you should certainly read this book and then lend it out or buy one for that person. If you don’t have autoimmune disease, you should certainly read this book so you can do everything possible not to unwittingly join the vast numbers of those of us who do.

I noticed someone who criticized this book said it was the same ancient advice but I found it very fascinating. I learned more about auto immune response and found it very informative. I have colitis and found the advice even as familiar went a small further and gave me a small more insight. I would urge this book.

Every Dr. in America should read this book! The author has done her research — the genius is in pulling all the in rank together to make a compelling link between the autoimmune disease eruption and environmental exposure. But, I did not appreciate the “political” references about Inconvenient Truth and global warning. Autoimmune disease is not an come forth for partison politics.

She managed to pull together a lot of in rank, from medical sources as well as a surprising quantity from more alternative points of view into a wonderful, informative, and readable book. The scope of the book was incredible and well done.
The reason I didn’t give it four stars is frequently because of my own private bias that the underdiagnosed epidemics of lyme disease and mycoplasma are at the root of the rise in cases of autoimmune disease and even as lyme is mentioned once (the word appears in the book, but that’s about it), mycoplasma doesn’t appear at all.
I was also saddened that low-dose naltrexone therapy, which is one of the most exciting new treatments for autoimmune disorders was not mentioned at all. But she may possibly hardly be human and manage to find out EVERYTHING about autoimmune disease!
The book is brilliant, read it, but know there is more in rank, more hope, more cures, more causes out there.
