Ordered product, never received or had any answer when contacted. Had to make alternative arrangements in order to have the book in time for the class I am taking.

I am now taking a Research in Nursing course using the fifth edition of this book. I have had over seventeen years experience at reading technical papers and research and never have I had such a hard time reading anything. The author writes using a lot of technical language combined with a very high level of writing (i.e. huge words) without prior definition of the language and poor hierarchical organization of in rank.
Here is an example, “Midrange theory is a focused conceptual structure that synthesizes do-research into thoughts central to the discipline.”
Why not just say, “A simple way to define midrange theory is to consider them as theories that are not as trying to apply to real life as grand theories, but not as hypothetical as the day to day hypothesis of every day nursing do.”
The charts and illustrations are not much better and do small to summarize the main points of what is written.

This book was brilliant for my class. I liked the appendices (nsg research articles) which helped to know the different concepts correlated to nursing research.

since i am in a quick track learning system and receive info on new requested book quite often with small time till the beginning of a new class: this is the seller to buy from -quick and reliable without any glitches and problems, book arrived on time in a described shape up!

I saw several “terrible” reviews about this book – how trying it was to decipher, how wordy, etc. – I was slightly depressed that it was the text selected by my professor. . . then I used it for a speeded-up intersession course and I found those concerns to be non-surviving. The book is logically set up, the index is a dream and the definitions are simply-written and amply exampled; I really really loved reading the studies used as illustrations throughout the book and collected at the end. I never saw any of the “problems” that the other reviewers saw. I found the book to be fantastic. The authors have a new edition out and I haven’t used that, but if I were going to urge textbooks to beginners in EBP – I would certainly mention editions by these authors.
