This book is very helpful to anyone in or interested in a medical career. It is not only relevant to the medical profession but to the general broadcast as well. In rank contained in this book will educate the broadcast about procedures that may possibly or have already been performed on them. As a high school graduate about to enter into the Pre-medical program…I have found it helpful in learning about the various forms of radiologic imaging. The book goes into fantastic detail about how each form of imaging works…perhaps this is one of its weaknesses…it goes into far greater detail than anyone who hasn’t had advanced medical training would need.

Review by a medical student interested in Radiology
This book is excellent if you want a starter to book for radiographic images that encompasses a variety of fields of film study. It was an simple read for each chapters, but way too basic, the author rambles as if you’re a 6th grader. So, I only suggest this book if you want only pictures to get an thought of what radiographic films show for some common pathology. The book ongoing with the OVER-SIMPLIFIED anatomy with comparison to the radiographic images. You will need a better book for a more in-depth review of Radiology. There is hardly anything on Neuroradiology, IR, flouroscopy, etc. It was only SLIGHTLY helpful for my General Radiology rotation. Plus, most hospitals ordinarily has this book in their library, may be an edition older though.
One reckon that bothered me about the illustrations were that the lesions were ordinarily not labeled, they were just discussed or mentioned within the illustration’s caption or the chapter explanation. The book is pricey for what it contains. It should be worth $40 or less!

A fantastic book to get your foot in the door with radiology. The author writes in a simplistic manner making it quite simple to read passively. There are a number of questions posed throughout the book that stimulate critical thought, and the images in the book are descent. It tends to read very quickly even though it looks rather thick in appearance. Overall, the book does a fantastic job of giving a medical student the kind of radiology education that he should have formally had even as in medical school. So by the time that you have read this book, you should feel more confident in your ability to approach a chest x-ray and diagnose a number of common aliments: pneumonia, pneumothorax, atelectasis, etc. Additionally, you should be much more familiar with what kinds of radiographic tests available and how you should use them, even if you may not know all of the minor nuances of each test. But, let me state very clearly that this book will result in you no where near the level of complexity that a radiologist or a radiology resident should know the theme matter. Its weakness lies in its simplicity. It does a fantastic job of giving examples and explaining fundamentals, but there are far too few of them to make you dexterous in reading an x-ray. The moral here is that you should not anticipate this book turning you into a radiologist, but it does a superb job of fulfilling its purpose: teaching the fundamentals.
