I took my DANB exam last week and bought a ton of materials for it. This book by the side of with one other were the most helpful tools I bought. The do quizzes were set up very well and had explanations before them. The book also provided quiz sheets to print off and use. Fantastic book, I would definately urge it.

This book is fantastic. It has alot of do questions and I find the resolution explanations very helpful. I find this book simpler to follow than the DANB issued review book.

I can’t tell you how helpful this book has been. Such a wide-topic,
I was studying for a month, and still not sure I was covering all the
in rank that might be covered on the test. The book helped me
see the types of questions and where the emphasis of the topic would
be. I scored a 98 on a test … Hooray!

I’m studying for the California RDA exam (not the same as the DANB RDA exam), and my background is strictly two years of on-the-job training. I did not attend dental assisting classes, but learned everything on the job. Needless to say, when you learn on the job, you don’t learn things outside of the scope of your office’s do, so this is a fantastic source of “catch-up” in rank.
I’m finding the questions hard– because it requires you to know a small anatomy (which teeth have 5 cusps, of which 3 are on the buccal, and 2 roots), medical terms (amelogenesis, exogenous, granuloma, osteitis), radiography (insufficient KvP causes what problems on films?), a small OSHA (what’s the purpose of MSDS?), a small chemistry, a small legal, and a LOT of infection control. This book teaches you many things you wouldn’t learn on the job, because your dentist might be ancient-school, cold corners, or just not up-to-date on OSHA… or you just didn’t need to know it because your office equipment was already set up(like what temperature and pressure are needed to clean painstakingly wrapped instruments).
I like the format of this book– no fluff, no lengthy text. It’s pure brass tacks. This book is strictly questions with 4 multiple-choice answers, and answers with explanation. I urge, in addition to this book, a excellent dental dictionary that will help you with the vocabulary that the book doesn’t clarify. The book tends to clarify the right resolution, and sometimes doesn’t clarify the incorrect answers.
I highly urge this book.
