My Micro professor writes questions for the USMLE Step 1. I was not doing well on his exams, but this book helped shoot my exam score up by 14%! I had used the “Made Ridiculously Simple” micro review book, but I found it too superficial. It helps to know the “why”; I may possibly never just memorize and regurgitate for an exam. This book is well updated, colored photos are fantastic, well organized and thorough but not to endless detail. *One weak top: the immunology section is disappointing, but I would still urge it for the micro part.

I had Dr. Chamberlain as my infectious Disease instructor. He is able to make a trying theme both fascinating and entertaining. The format of the book allows for a complete understanding of how infectious microbes effect different organ systems. Together with the simple to undestand text and fantastic color pictures, it makes for one of the best medical microbiology book on the market. Do yourself a act of kindness and do not pass up this book…you will not regret it.

I received this book about a week ago to supplement my studying for my Medical Immunology and Microbiology course. This has been terrific at helping to clarify the lectures that my professors give. The only problem that I’ve found is that the Index is not everlastingly right in terms of page numbers. If you are looking for something and can’t find it on the pages listed in the index, look a page before or after (ordinarily after) the page listed and you should find it. Besides that, I’m really glad that I bought this book.
