The book was set up to successfully study the in rank in it. it did help on the test with the exception of frequently physics questions on the science part. why there weren’t more a&p or micro questions is beyond me but that’s the test, not the book. excellent luck to anyone who attempts to get into nursing school, with the way schools have their admission administer set up most applicants need a link of years to play the admission game. Also – if you are going into this profession for the money the job will be hell and that’s honest from a nurse with 20 yrs. experience.

Although I did not use the included CD, the do test material was indicative of the actual test. Fantastic guide!

Overall, this guide was very helpful and I did score well on the NLN exam. The do tests were particularly helpful, and I reckon taking all of them is essential to doing well on the real test.
That said, this guide suffers from some atrocious editing, particularly in the science section (for example, they give the incorrect quantity for a mole in the chemistry section: 6.02 +… instead of 6.02 x…). If you know the material already and you’re just using this book for review, then you’ll be able to pick out the errors. If anything seems off, check a secondary source. I even noticed a link of questions in the science do tests that had the incorrect answers in the resolution key.
Also, this version of the review guide omits quite a bit of science material (especially physics) that was included in the previous edition. I have a copy of the older edition, but assumed I didn’t need to study anything that wasn’t in the new guide. I wish I had studied the ancient guide, though, because there were several physics questions on the exam that referenced material that was NOT covered in the new edition.
Even as the poor editing in the science section is annoying, I don’t have any major complaints about the math or verbal sections. You really do need this guide in order to do well on the test, and even as it’s not perfect, it can still help your score tremendously.

I had about 2 weeks to prepare, so following the advice of those who came before me, I studied and took all the do exams (twice), with extra attention to the science section. Personally, I found the bio review to be adequate, but the chemistry and physics were a small gone. I dug out my ancient college texts and reviewed the basics on the periodic table and wished I had reviewed the electrical currents section in physics. Nonetheless, this book is THE guide and you can’t go incorrect studying from it.
