This book is the best micro book out there. It presents the key factors of the major infectious diseases and is a must have for medical school.I’m so pleased I randomly stumbled on it.There is a small section on each case they call rationale, which is golden and it start with a wide range of potential bugs and eliminate the middle men with detail explanations.I like this book..

fantastic book. this book is fantastic for class or board prep. well plotting out and well organized this is the micro book you must buy. don’t waste your time reading other ones for when it comes to step 1 this book has the most bang for your buck. In addition to the wonderful textbook examples of classic presentations of the various bugs, there is fantastic supplemental material to be found in the books appendixes of general concepts and even pharmacology. you can’t go incorrect in prepping for class tests or the boards. sincerely, give it a try, read it, learn it, and it will help you immensely. I am constantly finding this book more helpful and informative than the micro book my school requires. Do your brain a act of kindness and read this book.

As a student preparing for Step 1 of the medical boards this is a must read, no-brainer, hands down. The systems based approach style prepares you for the complexity that the USMLE and the COMLEX will test. The authors have done a wonderful job providing interdisciplinary insight to make the hard diagnosis. The piece is well written and illustrated to provide the most ‘high yield’ in rank needed to CRUSH the boards. After reading this book, I felt very comfortable with microbiology (I had ZERO microbiology background and still walked away refreshed). From soup to nuts this is the best money invested for the BUGS of medicine!

I wish I had more than three days until Step 1 so I may possibly read this fantastic book cover to cover. The layout is fantastic including the appendices that cover general Micro tests and concepts. Even as it doesn’t have the goofy mnemonics of …Ridiculously Simple, it is MUCH more Boards focused.
The photos of cultures, tests and infections; introductory clinical cases; differential diagnoses; and thorough descriptions of the pathophysiology are second to none. I borrowed a preview copy from my Micro Prof and don’t want to give it up!
