As a student in a diagnostic coding course, I find this text much simpler to know than the one we were required to buy. It clarifies the basics, provides examples, and offers several exercises. Although some of the answers in the back for the exercises aren’t current because of this text’s publication date, I still find this book’s undemanding style and user-friendly format quite effective in teaching the principles of ICD-9-CM coding.
