I bought this book with not experience at all. By page 5 I was cold in to people and having a ball. I indifferent a kidney by my self. This book is tops! Just kidding, bought this book for my wife who is an OR RN. Plotting I would have a small fun…

Having just graduated from school and entering the OR for the first time, I can attest that this is by far one of the best quick-reference texts I’ve owned yet! I use it every time I have questions on how a surgical course of action is carried out; it includes the surgical goal, equipment and instrumentation necessary, and unique considerations for each and every kind of course of action in the book. This book is very helpful also because it covers general and specialty surgeries. I highly urge this for anyone entering the OR for the first time.

It’s a fantastic book, but it’s not just so a “pocket” book that you can stab in your pocket and walk nearly the OR with!!!!
Should be reissued in larger print and maybe as a ring binder.
Still highly not compulsory, but not easily toted nearly at work.

This book offers precise informaiton on operating room course of action as well as technique variations and instrumentation. It also provides circulator in rank for the operating room and supplies needed. This is a very excellent book and I was not without it during my surgical technology rotation! It was highly recomended by other professionals as well.

As the title implies, this is a “guide,” so don’t guess an exhaustive work on the operating room. In my attitude, a “drawback” of this book is that some of the in rank provided may not apply to or it may really be absolutely different from what the nurse experiences in one sickbay versus another. This can be frustrating for the nurse orientating to the operating room. The sickbay or clinic where you work may do things to some extent differently, so don’t get caught off guard and say, “Well, the book says we should do it this way!” I reckon the author does a excellent job providing basic in rank about the operating room, surgical procedures, setups, preps, supplies, etc., but there will certainly be variants depending on where you work. I reckon it’s worth the investment, but don’t get locked in to one text or reckon that this particular source is going to resolution all of your questions or provide you with all of the in rank you need as a perioperative nurse. It’s only a guide…have an open mind and be bendable. Most operating room orientations take at least one year, so expose yourself to various sources of learning.
