I bought this book simply based on its title. But, the title is very misleading. I am a RT(R)(M)(ARRT), going back to school. I have been doing research on the disparities of healthcare and its accessibility. I expected this book to control actual medical statistics and various case studies, but, nothing regarding healthcare or medicine is even mentioned in the book. I judge this book was written with the purpose to clarify the purpose and how to read statistical jargon regardless of purpose or field of study. I was disappointed and will return this STAT!

This is a fantastic book for physicians and health care providers, who constantly deal with the medical literature and conduct research. I am a physician and this book was not compulsory to me by my teacher in a statistics course and I found it very helpful. On the other hand, Amazon delivery was slow and it took forever to recieve the book.

This is a clad review of medical stats and is geared towards those who want a general understanding of what tests to use in what situations. If that’s what you want than this is a clad one to check out. If you are looking for mathematical proofs and complete explainations or statistical theories than this is the incorrect book to get since it has none of that. Sometimes it is a small too concise and gets confusing (I knew very small about medical stats when I first got this and had to use other sources on a few subjects). There are excellent examples in each chapter (which are ordinarily about 2 pages each) that help clarify the concepts as well.

This is one of my favorite statistical references and I everlastingly have it close at hand. Many times I am just looking for a brief and concise overview of a statistical topic that I don’t know that well and I use this text as one of my starting points, or I may use it as a quick refresher. It’s often a excellent starting top and a nice bridge to statistical texts, or software statistical manuals, that provide more detail. I would urge this text to anyone interested in statistics in healthcare / pharma.
