I have a Master’s in Cell Biology and just needed a “dedicated” text to reference applications of cell, tissue and organ physiology with drug actions. Fantastic for showing my students WHY they need to learn mechanisms of transport and cell-cell communication!!! Economical and concise text without the heavy organic chemistry that I don’t need.

This book is a fantastic book in that covers all the material you need in a proper pharmacology course, as Lippincott is very deficient. As a review book, the style in which it is written makes it a bit trying for review. Each drug should be covered unconnectedly, and all its effects should be included with it. The book should also control better tables, listing both drug effects and adverse effects: since certain drugs are better than others in the same group, and some drugs are used for different purposes. It would make it a bit simpler to review, since it is supposed to be a review book. In other words, the book is written nicely with brilliant figures, but the tables are unthoughtful and deficient for reviewing purposes. One COMPLETE table of all drugs should be placed in the back of the book as well, listing drug effects and adverse effects for a quick review. Katzung and trevor didn’t do such a fantastic job with organising this book, so you must use it and make your own tables and notes… proper ones… so that you may be able to quickly review.

This is what I used for pharm class in medical school (even though I bought the ‘Huge’ one too). It’s clear, simple and is fantastic to use in your course and then again when studying for boards.
