I bought this as a text book for a faculty member at my university. I cannot give a review.

Frieda Carson’s book is a must buy for anyone in the field of Histotechnology. I would not say that it is an exhaustive book, but it covers a excellent quantity and gives a excellent representation of general areas, especially those topics that are covered on the ASCP exam. I often find myself referring to it at work. The book does not really delve too deeply into IHC but does provide a very basic primer on it.

IF YOU WANT TO PASS YOUR ASCP HT/HTL EXAM, BUY THIS AND READ IT, INHALE IT, MAKE IT PART OF YOUR MOLECULAR STRUCTURE. REMEMBER TO MEMORIZE ALL YOUR FIXATIVES, EVEN THOSE THAT HAVEN’T BEEN USED SINCE LIKE PASTEUR, THEY ARE ALL ON THE TEST

This is without doubt, the most over-rated histotechnology textbook on the market. The reason for it’s success is because it has been hard-pressed by the ASCP and is used for the foundation of the ASCP histotechnology examination (again extremely poor curriculum and examination).
If you really want to know the science behind histotechnology and not a cook-book format, you must read either John Kiernan’s “Histological and Histochemical Methods: Theory and Do” or John Bancroft’s “Theory and Do of Histological Techniques”

This is with no doubt one of the best book written in the field of histology and pathohistology. I used this book intensively even as writing my research thesis. The book is very professional and it is written in a “user friendly” manner.
Brilliant reference book for every pathology, histology student and laboratory.
