I have owned and found valuable prior editions so I was excited to see that a 6th edition had been published. Unfortunately, the font is smaller and lighter making it uncomfortable to read. This is the first time I will have to return a book for this reason and I own several different pocket version books. Look at this editon at a bookstore before you buy to save on shipping expenditure. I plot on sending an email to the publisher also.

I have used this text from its very first edition. Its slim format makes it simple to carry and handle, yet it is very comprehensive given its size. There are times when Epocrates is not enough and Schatzberg and Nemeroff’s volume is too much. The concise tables of dose equivalents are particularly helpful.

I am so disappointed. I have been a involved psychiatrist for over twenty years and have just loved prior editions of this manual–small, simple to carry in the sickbay, well-written, packed with in rank for its size–but with the new sixth edition the publisher halved the thickness of the book even as increasing the width by about an inch. To accomplish this type has been reduced in size and perhaps made lighter (not sure if lighter or seems that way because of the decreased size of the type), which has made the book trying to read for me. The fantastic virtue of the book has been that I may possibly quickly page to a section, skim it quickly, and go on. But now because of the type I can no longer skim it quickly; I have to slow down and read it word by word, making it not usable as a on-the-go manual.
Perhaps the publisher resolute that they only sought after to market to residents with young eyes, but the book is no longer helpful for me. I will have to return it. (FYI: did not buy from Amazon.) As someone else said, find it in a bookstore before buying. I am going to write the publisher. Maybe they can place out a revised 6th edition. Or place it on Kindle so I can read it on my netbook.

This is an brilliant book, but the in rank is about 3-4 years ancient (Probably 4-5 years if you consider the time to publishing)! That is pretty dated in rank for this field, especially with the MANY newer agents. Make a new edition guys!

I’ve read all editions of this book and I’m really impressed. Rosenbaum, et. al. are masters of the art of psychopharmacology. This book covers nearly all areas relevant to involved psychiatrists. Despite its breadth, you can end reading the book in a link of days. Finally, this book is an brilliant resource to review for the certification exam in Advanced Psychopharmacology offered by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP).
