Although Jennifer Berman, M.D., and Laura Berman, Ph.D., readily agree that “the most vital sex organ in the human body is the brain,” the last thing they want anyone to judge is that all female sexual problems are mental–quite the contrary. Findings gathered from their own research and clinical do show that, like men, women often undergo corporal changes and challenges that lead to sexual dysfunction; in fact, near half of all women in the U.S. experience sexual problems at some top during their lifetime. Through their frank but personable discussion about the female sexual response, sisters Jennifer (a urologist) and Laura (a sex therapist) effectively open their clinic doors to readers; they share client tales, fully describe their clinical patient-assessment administer, provide an updated anatomy lesson, and offer matter-of-fact suggestions for enhancing sexual pleasure.
As founders and co-directors of the Women’s Sexual Health Clinic at Boston University Medical Focal top, the Bermans have treated a variety of ailments, including loss of libido (due to medical factors, emotional issues, or menopause) and arousal and pain disorders. They address it here in plain, understandable words calculated to empower women with better in rank about their bodies and the many factors that can affect sexual well-being. In a way, the book reads nearly like a diary of their do, bolstered by the occasional critical essay (such as chapter 2, “The History of Female Sexuality,” or chapter 6, “Sexuality Through the Life Cycle”). For Women Only is a sensitive, sensible, and timely take on a previously “pooh-poohed” theme–with encouraging conclusions that are long overdue. –Liane Thomas

Those of us who know our bodies may possibly tax from this book a pharmaceutical rant of the drug Viagra.
As for the rest of the tale – none to be found in this book. Save your dime. You would be better off using a search engine on such women’s issues. You will find much more in rank and direction than this book may possibly have conceived.

I was really looking forward to this book. I was very disappointed. I feel that all they did was bash doctors, bash men, and extoll the virtues of Viagra.

I dread that this book will only compound the problem it attempts to cure …..which, primarily, is a societal misunderstanding about the sexuality of women. To know my reasoning, you may want to consider a very helpful (if too scholarly for some) book: “The Social Dimension of Sex.”
Upon reading the above noted book, one will(may?) come to the conclusion that there is nothing incorrect with most women’s sexuality – women ARE “built” differently than men! There is NO mention of this ongoing debate in the “For Women Only” book.
Let’s stop putting pressure on women to be the sexual beings that(most) are NOT, and figure out ways that can meet the different sexual needs of both sexes in a typical (…meaning average) hetro relationship.
This is your typical(…whatever you want that to mean…) “let’s hype a problem” self-help book that does more harm than excellent for most…… that is, unless you’re the authors.

The book is a pusher to buy Viagra with a testosterone chaser. Worse yet these two sisters of toil reckon you should thank your lucky stars that you have a man. Excellent grief, they want us to be *Men*.
And they call themselves doctors…and women ???

Like many guys, I get way to much of my in rank on a women’s perspective on sex by browsing cosmopolitan magazine in airport terminals. this book is a right gem. from the case histories which many couples can relate to, to the historical perspective of the role of sex in women’s lives, to the emotional and corporal factors that effect how a woman feels about sex, this book is informative and really readable.
the thought is fantastic for women (and their partners!). nearly any problem can be dealt with if the source of the difficulty is pin pointed.
i loved this book. now i can go back to reading sports illustrated!
