I bought this book thought it would be a more specicfic musculoskeletal companion to Braddom’s generalized PM&R textbook. Unfortunately the treatment paragraphs (most vital section from my perspective) for each topic were very thin and nonspecific. They were woefully inadequate for an attending or physiatry resident. I sent the book back which unfortunately meant I didn’t get to critique the DVD.

As a novice family nurse practitioner, this book has been tremendously helpful. My only disappointment is that it does not include basic anatomy. In addition, I reckon the title is a misnomer. It should really be called “Essentials of Skeletal Care” because there are no anatomical muscular references in the book.

This book is without a doubt the best matter-of-fact day to day book on incorporating orthopaedics in your do. I have reviewed many and this is by far the best. The section on pediatrics lonely makes this book worth owning. Precise, right and fun to read. Sections on anatomy and procedures are a plus, too. This is a must for any family do clinic.
If you’re looking for one ortho book. Get this one!

I’m interested in primary care sports medicine and this book is a fantastic resource for me. Fantastic for examinations, differentials and treatments. The really excellent thing about it is the end of each section shows what exercises/PT should be done and the included DVD can print this out as a patient handout. The only weak top is that the anatomy is a small sketchy so you would need to read another text to get that down.
