This book was optional for a nursing course in graduate school “The Philosophy of Science.” It should have been required. It was a right lifesaver! The major philosophers are presented with a concise summary of their positions. I highly urge it for anyone who doesn’t want to delve through philosophical tomes in order to know the gist of a particular philosopher’s position. It is written for the nursing audience. Philosophers included are: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descarte, Bacon, Locke, Hume, Kant, Comte, Kuhn, Laudan and Toulmin. The influence of classical philosophy, rationalism, empiricism, transcendental idealism, positivism, historicism on nursing are covered. Fantastic asset for the graduate nursing student.
