This book contains about fifteen percent helpful in rank. The rest is made up of tales about colon cleansing, the politics of same, testimonials, etc. Even as the author’s enthusiasm is hard to beat, she only touches on the basis of a clean system: whole grains, veggies, plant protein, etc. Colon cleansing will not undo years of abuse, and the best way to avoid the consequences is by eating in a colon – friendly way, that is, like a Vegan.
Cleanse if you like – it’s better than nothing, and probably won’t hurt. But the optimum way to optimum health is an intelligent diet.

Loree Taylor Jordan is passionate about poop! With amusing quotes and chapter subtitles (…Fluffy Floaters, Stinky Sinkies…), she approaches the serious theme of detoxifying our innards after cumulative years of abuse.
As we baby boomers not-so-quietly enter our golden years, we need to assess the quality of our health. Even as our generation spends hours and dollars on making sure we look excellent on the outside, what are we doing to take care of the surrounded by? Jordan emphasizes the need for purging our bodies of years of accumulated toxins through herbal cleansing, colon hydrotherapy, and herbs to refill the excellent bacteria that aids in our digestion. She suggests that many of our diseases and illnesses–such as cancer, may be the result of internal toxification.
Jordan says that even those of us who eat relatively healthy still suffer from the cumulative effect of toxins stuck to our intestinal walls. Some of us suffer from bouts of headaches, dizziness, fatigue, or unclear thought. She confesses that even she was surprised when she eliminated a black rubber-like snake of mass one day. I’ve read about this before and I honestly don’t know. I reflect on those who abuse their bodies with poor nutritional habits and those who down the best nutrient-rich foods, whose colonoscopies reveal a clean pink-lined colon.
As passionate as Jordan has been about eating healthy and detoxifying, and even “forcing” her now ex-spouse and two sons to do the same, I wondered what she is doing now. Seven years after the publication of her Detox book, I found several online videos of her talking about addiction…to donuts.
Detox for Life is still an informative and resourceful read. It encourages you to be conscious about what you place into your mouth and to chew your food slowly in order to allow the enzymes of your saliva to start digesting the food before you swallow. As I approach my life’s half-century mark and find my own digestion growing sluggish, I ongoing doing the following: drink more condense juice to soften the bench (Jordan didn’t urge this specifically, but it’s something I resolute to do until I have my initial colonoscopy); eat raw garlic or onion (when I’m working in my home office) in order to rid my intestines of potential parasites (I eat sushi and raw beef in the form of chi-kufta, an Armenian meat appetizer); try to drink half my body consequence (in ounces) of water each day, and try to eat even more raw veggies and fruits for their enzyme-rich properties.
