Though this book is certainly helpful, as a second year medical student I’ve found it to cover certain topics with excessive detail, and to complete skip others. For example, there’s not a single blood smear in the book, which I plotting was a major oversight.

I found this book to be a fantastic review source for slide review for lab exams. Each slide shows a very typical example of a pathological shape up and comes with an explanation of the key features. It is a fantastic way to focus your studies for exams or prepare for slide presentations if your class requires them.
