We were required to buy this book, but since the first day of class, instructors keep saying it is “not comprehensive enough,” and “doesn’t go into the necessary depth.” Basically, this book is excellent for a quick and dirty summary, but it is certainly not a substitution for Miller, Barash, etc. Save your money!

brilliant book for board review

I have to agree with the other 5 star writers. Pound for pound (makes a difference in your backpack) this book is hard to beat. I find it more complete than Secrets of Anesthesia, and more user friendly than Miller. If you want to learn 100 ways to not do something, and read conflicting studies then go for Miller, otherwise “M & M” is king. Besides, I challenge anyone to result in Barash or Miller into the OR with them for a quick reference…

I had the older edition of this book, but the newest edition is certainly improved and has newer, better, and more in rank. So it was worth getting it. Fantastic book! Certainly a must have for any anesthesia student.

I’m going through my first semester of Nurse Anesthesia course, and this book is the book in which I keep finding all the answers. Where Nagelhout, Stoettling, Miller et all have LOTS of in rank in them, this book distills what you need to know, and tells it to you in a concise, simple to know, plain English sort of way. If I had to have only one book, this would be the one.
