The format in this book is below expectations. It is as though I was using someone elses’ notes/questions. It would be nice to have a book that speaks to the patho. associated wit the many and varried proccesses seen in the surgical experience.

So far, this book is a pretty excellent review. Seems like most of the questions are set up like the board questions, where 2-3 answers are aptly, and you need to figure out what ASPAN thinks you should do first. The annotated answers are vague at times, and you need to do further research to get a honest resolution. Overall, I would urge this book. Excellent luck on the test!

I highly urge this reference for anyone studying for certification in perianesthesia nursing. Although I did use other references to increase my knowledge in areas of my weaknesses, I found that reading through this book twice, as well as studying the Standards of Care for Perianesthesia Nurses, prepared me to pass the test. The question-resolution- rational format helped geer me toward finding in the question what was needed in choosing the right resolution, when two answers seemed close. This is a real key in passing these types of trying exams. Excellent luck!

This book gave a excellent review of the type of questions that may possibly be questioned on the ASPAN Perianesthesia Certification tests. I felt it was a small outdated in that it included questions for both the Inpatient and Ambulatory tests mixed together.
