This book arrived without its jacket and came with gratis coffee stain and everything, The book itself is fine to read but doesn’t show well. But like the other 3 books I ordered that day the ad said shipping was $3.99 and I was charged $12.49. Too pricey won’t be using this service again.

I agree with most of the others who have talked about this book in terms of it’s simple-to-read and informative nature. But, I found the pictures of sick kitties very upsetting and it makes it hard for me to use this book. The pictures seem like those you would find in a clinical textbook for someone in veterinary school and even as others may find this helpful I wish they had excluded them since they do not seem absolutely necessary in order to know the text. I would not have bought this book if I had known ahead of time that it included such graphic pictures. Anyone who is very sensitive to this like myself, be forwarned!

This is fantastic reference book for beginners but it has alot of things gone which is why I say it’s a excellent book for beginners.

I agree with the request for a yucky-picture-free edition of this manual. But, if pictures must be in it, perhaps they may possibly have pictures of cats that aren’t quite so observably ill as the ones shown. If my cat were *that* sick, she’d be staying overnight at the vet’s office for as long as it took.
The pictures were the main reason I didn’t buy the book when I first saw it at PetSmart. But, now I’ve just schooled myself not to flip through it too forgetfully because I’ll see things that break my heart.
Aside from the picture come forth, the book is invaluable. It contains far more in rank than your typical “cats for dummies” style book. Not that “cats for dummies” isn’t very enjoyable, but I don’t use it when I’m sincerely inquiring upon the health of my cats. (All ten of them.)

I have two cats surrounded by and two that have been abandoned by their original owners outside. This book has a lot of fantastic in rank for treating some things at home. I did find that for most illnesses I would need to seek veterinary care. But, the book helps you to make that determination.
