Rating this book 1 star may seem unfair: After all, there is much valuable in rank, and a excellent bit of superficial representation of dr. Chopra`s Indian heritage. But my reasons for giving a low evaluation: – There is a painstaking administer going on in medical circles, where the establishment gradually learns to accept new (or maybe rather ancient!) approaches to health, from vegeatbles/antioxydants to meditation. Books like this is an insult to research-oriented doctors, abounding with uncorroborated claims – and it closes many scientific minds to looking into the potential of meditation to keep and regain health, given dr. Chopra`s fame, fortune and broadcast standing, which obscures the view of workers of more substance, like dr. Dossey. In other words, dr. Chopra is doing the slow-working, more humble-minded doctors that work in the alternative field a disservice and is slowing down the rapprochement between the medical establishment and those who use meditation, sound and the like.
- In doing so, he is selling fake hopes and capitalising on people`s dread of death, apt one of the richest doctors in history in the administer. Is it not better to learn to accept aging and prepare for death? I have met many people who have bought Chopra`s books and attended his workshops, but none who have had a fraction of the effects of his methods that he claims. Where is the ethical aspect in this?
- Having worked with a large number of cancer patients through the years, following their fears and struggles, it seems like an insult to run of the mill humble workers to say “Reprogram your quantum mind and get rid of the cancer”. If Chopra may possibly show one case of a person who may possibly do this, including himself, I`d be willing to exchange my view of this as a condescending way to handle suffering humans who need compassion and excellent palliative care, not simple solutions that give the responsibility to the patient, even as the doctor stands with no soil of the human factor on his hands. This is a travesty of the Hippocratic ideal, and will strengthen the view of alternative doctors as superficial, money-loving peddlers of fake hopes. 1 star rating is inevitable, I despise to say. Luckily, there are many excellent sources of the same knowledge that Chopra embezzles. (Hope I haven`t been too harsh, I have no wish to attack Chopra, but I wish to strengthen a more substantial approach to the issues of aging, health and dying).

I was hoping that Chopra might turn over a new leaf, but he’s churned out another meaningless book. It would appear he is paid for every time he uses the words ‘quantum’, ‘energy’, ‘vibration’, ‘intelligence’, and gets a bonus check for using them in vague contexts. Here’s an example:
“Underlying our material being there exists what might be called a “quantum mechanical body,” which is pure administer, energy, and intelligence. Since the quantum mechanical body determines what the quantum body will be like, it is in the quantum mechanical body that we’ll find the origins of chronic fatigue.”
Trying to distill anything concrete, meaningful, or helpful out of this book has only given me infinite quanta of new source of fatigue.

I highly urge this book to anyone who feels wiped out all the time. My favorite chapters were chapter 1: Fatigue, energy, and the quantum mechanical body. Chapter 5: Eliminating fatigue by reducing stress and Chapter 7: Chronic fatigue in todays environment.
Why are we so wiped out?
It’s not like we ran a marathon, or have jet lag because of a trip from Europe, or been denied food and water. This fatigue is from our normal daily activities. The life we have made makes us feel this way, it keeps us emotionally drained.
When we spend so much of our time on activities that give us very small satisfaction it sucks the life force out of us.
What is the satisfaction level of your daily activities?
The life we have made seldom gives us what we truly want or need.
To find your right wants and needs another excellent book is, “It’s About You” by E. S. Smith
