Basic Gas Chromatography
Basic Gas Chromatography Books
Product Description
Gas Chromatography (GC) is undoubtedly the most widely used technique for the separation and analysis of volatile compounds. Yet comprehensive guides to contemporary GC theory and do are surprisingly hard to find.
Basic Gas Chromatography fills this significant void in the GC literature. Written by two well-known practitioners and educators in GC, it offers thorough coverage of the basic principles and techniques of modern gas chromatography.
Calculated to serve as a primer/working reference for bench chemists and as a textbook for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students, it presents the fundamentals in a undemanding and logical make. Theoretical issues are clarified without complicated equations and derivations and everlastingly in terms of how they relate to matter-of-fact operating principles. Timely, comprehensive, and accessible, Basic Gas Chromatography:
* Provides a balanced presentation of theory and do
* Includes both capillary discourse and packed discourse chromatography
* Uses the new IUPAC terms throughout, thwart-referenced to habitual terms and symbols
* Offers a wealth of helpful hints, step-by-step guidelines, and distress-shooting tips
* Briefly covers GC-MS, headspace analysis, chiral analysis, solid phase microextraction, and other cold-edge topics.

A very excellent reference for those who just start to learn gas chromatography. The book was written in a format that make it simple to know with more emphasis on the matter-of-fact side rather than theoretical/mathematical treatment. After 40 years of intensive development, gas chromatography is still a very incredible technique.

A nicely written, simple to read, primer. It includes many tips and insights not covered in other textbooks. As in other books on the theme, there is a heavy bias towards the analysis of hidrocarbons, although reference is made to other materials such as essential oils. What I miss is an appendix with a link of examples of analyses fully worked out, discussing the pros and cons of the decisions taken by the analyst regarding sample extraction and chromatographic analysis.

This is a terrific overview of basic gas chomatography. For decades, Harold McNair was the BEST person teaching gas chromatography.
Applied GC (gas chromatography) is as much an art as it is a science and has grown to be an invaluable tool for analytical work. Why not start with the best foundation of basics that one can get?

An brilliant primer on the theme. If you’re thought of bringing GC into your lab, or are just brushing up on the theme, this is the book for you. Some of the derivations focused on quantitative analysis are a bit pedantic and might not be applicable to the average user, but overall the book is a excellent balance between do and theory.

excellent in rank about all type of GC. Description and techniques instructions. It’s a general book, so you’ll not find deep in rank of a typical GC.
